NYS 8 Hour Pre-Assignment
Unarmed Security Guard Training

The NYS 8‑Hour Pre‑Assignment course is your first mandatory step toward becoming a licensed unarmed security guard in New York State. It equips you with essential knowledge in legal authority, emergency procedures, communication, and ethics—and earning its certificate allows you to submit your license application and begin on-the-job training.
The NYS 8‑Hour Annual In‑Service Training is a yearly refresher course essential for all New York State security guards to stay licensed and proficient. It offers updated training in legality, emergency handling, communication, ethics, and site control—key to doing the job effectively and legally.
The 16-Hour On-the-Job Training (OJT) Course is a required, state-mandated training for all unarmed security guards in New York State. It must be completed within 90 days of employment after finishing the
8-Hour Pre-Assignment Training.

AHA Heartsaver®
(CPR/AED & First AID)

Heartsaver® CPR/AED & First Aid is a course developed by the American Heart Association (AHA) that teaches basic life-saving skills for laypeople (non-medical professionals). It's ideal for anyone who needs certification for work, such as teachers, security guards, coaches, childcare providers, and the general public.
Opioid Overdose Response & Naloxone Training is a life-saving educational program that teaches individuals how to:
- Recognize the signs of an opioid overdose
- Respond appropriately and safely
- Administer Naloxone (Narcan), a medication that reverses opioid overdoses
It is designed for both the general public and professionals who may witness or encounter an overdose, including security personnel, teachers, first responders, and community members.
